The Seven Sins/Seven Virtues Challenge

This time around, we're looking for fic based on the medieval Christian concept of the Seven Sins and the corresponding Seven Virtues. You may write something based on one virtue or sin, or something incoporating all seven of sins or virtues, or, if you're feeling ambitious, something that manages to use all fourteen concepts.

I'm listing the current Catholic sins and virtues, however, if you want to use one of the older sins or virtues, feel free.

Sins/Virtues:

Lust/Chastity
Sloth/Diligence
Greed/Charity
Gluttony/Temperance
Wrath/Patience
Envy/Kindness
Pride/Humility

You have until August 30.

Notes: For the Fusion Challenge on [community profile] star_trek_flashfic, sneaking just under the West Coast wire. For [livejournal.com profile] marcolette, who is a ridiculous enabling enabler. The challenge was to fuse two universe, and because I am on the crack, I fused American Idol with Star Trek XI. God help us all. Kris+Adam, PG13. Read it here or at my fic archive.

The challenge looked kind of sad, with only one fic. Clearly the answer is a really obscure fusion.

Title: Lose Your Cool
Fandom: Star Trek XI (fusion with Havemercy)
Rating: PG-13? Nothing to warn about.
Wordcount: 337
Summary/Notes: Spock's researching the effects of a life of being trained to be a soldier. His research subjects just want to see him snap. I dunno how much sense this will make without knowledge of Havemercy. There are metal dragons, by the way. For the fusion challenge.

Lose Your Cool )
helens78: Cartoon. An orange cat sits on the chest of a woman with short hair and glasses. (st: sulu b&w flare)

Public Liability
Fandom: Star Trek (fusion with Heroes)
Characters: Kirk/Sulu, Pike
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 1229
Disclaimer: Star Trek is owned by Paramount; Heroes is owned by Universal. In either case, I lay claim to none of these characters; no infringment intended.
Story elements: (skip) Warning for mild accidental but kinda-graphic injury in a non-sexual context. (warning policy)
Summary: It's the 23rd century; heroes aren't exactly walking the streets. Some of them are busy turning tricks and getting into bar fights, and there's an enterprise out there trying to make sure they don't give themselves away. Or, in other words: Star Trek (reboot) meets Heroes, with the trademark invincible character and a double-team of "one of us, one of them".

Notes: For the fusion challenge on [community profile] star_trek_flashfic. This desperately wants to be a much, much longer story involving the whole cast, and I swear, when I have time to write something long, I'm going there. For now, though, I wanted to get this out before the challenge closed!

The title comes from the following quote by Richard E. Byrd: A static hero is a public liability. Progress grows out of motion.

''He's been here the past three nights. Anything happens tonight and people are going to start to notice.'' )

The Fusion Challenge

So what if the entire TNG crew was at Hogwarts? Or what if Kira Nerys was a Slayer? How about Kirk, Spock, Sulu and Uhura as a 'gate team with the SGC?

Conversely, what if Sam and Dean were the Enterprise's beta shift pilot and navigator? What kind of adventures could Captain John Sheppard, First Officer McKay and the rest of the crew of the USS Atlantis get up to?

A fusion is not a crossover, so this isn't about John and Rodney suddenly finding themselves on the Enterprise D, or Kirk and Spock needing Sam and Dean's help to get back to their own universe. This is about either Trek Characters always having been in another fandom's universe, or charcters from another fandom always having been in any of the Trek universes.

Any questions? Ask 'em here! :)

You have until August 9.

Five Navigators
Fandom: Star Trek (reboot)
Characters: Sulu/various, Sulu/Gaila, Sulu/Chekov
Rating: R
Word count: 2160
Disclaimer: Star Trek is owned by Paramount; this is not intended to infringe on Paramount's copyright.
Summary: Sulu takes five different approaches with five different navigators: Gary Mitchell, Kevin Riley, Harrison, Gaila, and Pavel Chekov.

Notes: For the Five Things challenge at [community profile] star_trek_flashfic! Those of you not familiar with TOS may not recognize the first three names on the list, so here are Memory Alpha links: Mitchell, Riley, Harrison. Inspired by the fact that it seems like, until Chekov lands on the scene, there's a new navigator almost every week. :)

The Five Things Challenge

So, Five Things fic...you all know the drill, right? You write a set of five pieces of any length that fit a theme. What that theme is, well, that's up to you, as is the genre. So whether you want to write "Four Times Jim Kirk Didn't Have Sex With Farm Animals (and the One Time He Did)" or "Five Holidays Observed on the USS Voyager" or any other five things fic, this is the place for it! You can also do 5 + 1 if you like; for example: Five Times Spock Didn't Show Favoritism Towards Uhura (and the One Time He Did).

Because we extended the last challenge, you'll have a few extra days to write for this one. The deadline is Sunday, July 26.

Title: ... And In Health
Fandom: Star Trek XI (reboot)
Rating: PG-13
Challenge: Family challenge
Disclaimer: Star Trek and its related characters are not mine.
Characters: Leonard and Jocelyn McCoy
Warnings: Well, the ex doesn't really count as an OC, but she's there. Marriage that will eventually end in divorce. Mentions of death, injuries, and sickness, because McCoy is a doctor.
Summary: Leonard McCoy is a doctor. He's also a father and a husband.

McCoy stepped through his front door and attempted to feel cheerful.
helens78: Zoe Saldana and Nichelle Nichols at the BET awards ceremony. (st: 2 uhuras close)
[personal profile] helens78
A Visit To The Previous Generation
Fandom: Star Trek (reboot)
Characters: Nyota Uhura/Spock, Sanaa Uhura
Rating: G
Word Count: 3825
Disclaimer: Star Trek is owned by Paramount; this is not intended to infringe on Paramount's copyright. Sanaa Uhura was inspired by the knowledge that Nichelle Nichols was supposed to have appeared in Star Trek XI as Uhura's grandmother, so I credit Ms. Nichols for Sanaa Uhura and her awesomeness.
Summary: Uhura's grandmother wants to meet Spock; Spock and Uhura agree to come visit her. For the Family Challenge at [community profile] star_trek_flashfic!

It's a typical night for Commander Spock; having finished his work duties for the day, he's home at his apartment, a small off-campus unit that adequately fills Spock's two requirements for a domicile: privacy and quiet. )

Notes: This story contains nothing for which I warn; cutting the notes section for very mild spoilers for this story and TOS 2.07 'Catspaw'. )
